Summit Seeks to Educate Potential Maryland Minority Investors and Contractors on the opportunities provided in the new Maryland Sports Betting Law   

HANOVER, MD (June 10, 2021) –The Cordish Companies and Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland will host a Maryland Educational Summit: Sports Betting 101 on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Hall at Live!. This free event, made possible by the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) and Spectrum Gaming Group, will be an informative meeting for Maryland minority-owned small businesses, investors, and other interested parties to plan for the upcoming opportunities that will be available as a result of recently passed sports betting legislation in Maryland.  .

With its recent legalization, the State of Maryland has included several provisions to assure that the sports betting industry supports diversity and inclusion from its inception. Maryland has been recognized as a national model for minority inclusion in State procurement and contracting for over 40 years through its Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) program and this Summit seeks to highlight the importance of sports betting as an opportunity to continue to positively impact public policy. 

The topics at the Summit will include an overview of the legislation, an introduction to the sports betting ecosystem, and an overview of the application process for potential investors and vendors, including minority business enterprises. Expert panel discussions will be moderated with legislators, gaming suppliers, gaming operators, legal and licensing executives, and industry consultants. The day will conclude with a tour of Live!
